Master SM-700-042 British 4.7"/45 (120mm) QF Marks IX and XII barrels (8pcs) - British destroyer classes - A through N, O, Q through W and Tribal (1/700)

We offer the Master SM-700-042 set—a high-quality set of eight brass 4.7"/45 (120 mm) QF Marks IX and XII barrels, designed for 1:700 scale Royal Navy destroyer models. These barrels are suitable for ships of the following classes: A–N, O, Q–W, Tribal, as well as Abdiel minelayers, ex-Brazilian destroyers (H class), ex-Turkish destroyers (I class), minesweepers, and numerous other Allied and partner vessels from the period of World War II (1939-1945) and the immediate postwar years. Besides the Royal Navy, these barrels were also used by Argentine, Turkish, and Dutch ships (for example, Buenos Aires and Van Galen (ii) classes, ex-British “N” destroyers).

  • Scale: 1/700 – perfectly proportioned for collector models and historical fleet reconstructions
  • Material: Precisely machined brass, offering exceptional realism, durability, and resistance to deformation
  • Extras: The set includes eight barrels; only basic model preparation is needed (removal of plastic barrels, drilling of holes, and gluing in metal barrels using cyanoacrylate adhesive)
  • Historical period: World War II and the first postwar years, famous naval battles in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Pacific (e.g., convoy battles, operations in the Arctic Ocean)
  • User country: United Kingdom, Argentina, Turkey, the Netherlands
  • Category: Metal replacement/aftermarket model parts – enhancements for plastic scale models

Why choose Master SM-700-042?
This product is recommended both for intermediate and experienced modelers who expect the highest level of detail reproduction. Replacing factory plastic barrels with metal ones greatly enhances visual effect, durability, and the collectible value of the model. Master barrels fit many famous ships from the discussed era, and the precision of workmanship makes the detail a strong feature of any diorama or display.

Assembly difficulty: 2/5 – simple conversion, requires only basic drilling tools and a little precision.

Summary: The brass barrel set is a great addition to Royal Navy ship models, dedicated to modelers seeking perfect finish and faithful reproduction of details from historic vessels of World War II.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
