Historical description

Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. A was one of the first models in the legendary series of German Pz.Kpfw. III tanks. The prototype of this version was developed in the late 1930s as a support tank and combat vehicle designed to fight other tanks. The Ausf. A version was used in combat during the Polish campaign in September 1939 – one of the first operations by modern Wehrmacht armored units employing the concept of Blitzkrieg. The Pz.Kpfw. III played a key role in the rapid operations of German forces, and the experience gained in these engagements influenced the development of subsequent, improved versions of this vehicle.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
