Historical Description

The Tupolev Tu-134A was a development of the basic Tu-134 model, widely used by airlines of Warsaw Pact countries and other Eastern Bloc nations. These aircraft, in the livery of the renowned Czechoslovak Airlines (CSA), were a common sight at European airports. A unique feature of the Tu-134A was the two-person crew and the characteristic twin horizontal stabilizer. The aircraft was produced from the 1970s, served from the Cold War era up to modern times, until its retirement in the second decade of the 21st century.

Model Details

The A-Model 72278 set contains sprues with details matching the version operated by CSA. The cockpit, passenger cabin, landing gear, and the characteristic rear-mounted jet engines are faithfully reproduced. The parts fit well together, and the model offers decals with original CSA markings. There are no metal or resin parts – this is a classic plastic kit.

Recommendation

The product is especially recommended for intermediate and advanced aircraft modelers interested in the history of civil aviation and Eastern European airlines. The model is ideal for diorama collections and historical displays. Difficulty level: 3/5 – it requires patience and accuracy when working with multiple parts and applying decals. It’s a great challenge for fans of realistic passenger aircraft models.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
