The Pz.Sp.Wg. 1ZM vehicle (Panzer Sonderkraftwagen 1ZM) was built on the chassis of a Daimler-Benz truck and armed with two or three MG 13 machine guns. Developed at the end of the 1920s, it served with the Prussian Police and German Reichswehr units. During its service, this vehicle was mainly used for patrol duties, convoy protection, and training. In the September Campaign of 1939, the Pz.Sp.Wg. 1ZM was deployed, among other areas, to Poland, where it was used to secure communication routes and combat small enemy groups. Following the September Campaign, some vehicles continued to serve in an auxiliary role into the early 1940s.
