Historical Description of the Gloster Gladiator MkI Model

Gloster Gladiator MkI was a British single-seat biplane fighter produced by the Gloster Aircraft Company. Introduced into service in the second half of the 1930s, it was the last biplane adopted by the Royal Air Force and the Fleet Air Arm. It took part in the early stages of World War II, used by Britain, Norway, Finland, Belgium, France, and China, among others, during the Norwegian campaign and in the battles for Norway and Malta. It was distinguished by its maneuverability and combat resilience, even in spite of the clear advantage held by newer enemy monoplane fighters.

Features of the Montex K48101 Set:

  • Canopy masks made from matte black film provide excellent contrast, precise fit, and ease of application, even on curved glazed surfaces.
  • The protective film with delicate adhesive does not rip off paint and adheres flawlessly even to complex shapes of the model.
  • The masks allow for painting canopy frames not only from the outside but also from the inside—a completely new standard in the modeling world.
  • Stencils for all necessary markings: roundels, letters, numbers, chevrons, and other details corresponding to selected period variants.
  • Included color painting schemes make it easy to match the markings to the historical original.

Scale
1/48

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
