Roden 635 Sopwith 1½ Strutter 1/32 – Plastic Aircraft Model Kit

Roden 635 Sopwith 1½ Strutter 1/32 is an advanced plastic model kit of a World War I fighter aircraft, designed by the renowned model company Roden. The model is produced in the popular 1/32 scale, allowing for faithful reproduction of the original's structural details and making for an impressive display once assembled.

  • User country: United Kingdom (as well as Allied countries, including France, Russia, and Belgium)
  • Historical period: World War I (1916–1918)
  • Material: high-quality plastic (polystyrene), allowing for precise painting and easy fitting of glued parts
  • Kit includes: structural details, decals for several marking options, clear cockpit parts, realistically reproduced machine guns, Clerget rotary engine, and pilot's seat
  • Category: plastic model kit

The Sopwith 1½ Strutter was a revolutionary British biplane, the first Allied aircraft equipped with a synchronized machine gun firing through the propeller, greatly increasing effectiveness in aerial combat. Designed by the Sopwith Aviation Company under the leadership of Thomas Sopwith, it initially served as a fighter and light bomber. Its first flight took place in December 1916, and the aircraft quickly entered service with the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Naval Air Service.

The Sopwith 1½ Strutter was used in reconnaissance, escort, and bombing missions. It was also used by French, Russian, and Belgian air forces. Its characteristic "W"-shaped cabane struts provided exceptional flight stability. Several thousand units were produced by the end of the conflict.

The Roden 635 model is especially recommended for advanced modellers who value high quality details and historical accuracy. Building this kit enables you to recreate one of the most important aircraft of World War I, enriching any aviation collection. Due to the complexity of the construction, the recommended difficulty level is 4/5. The kit does not include glue or paints – these must be purchased separately.

If you are looking for a model that captures the atmosphere of early military aviation and provides satisfaction during assembly, the Roden 635 Sopwith 1½ Strutter 1/32 will be an excellent choice!

Scale
1/32

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
