Historical background and military application

The Fritz X was one of the world’s first guided bombs, developed by the German arms industry as a precision weapon against armored naval targets. It was used in combat by the Luftwaffe, primarily with Dornier Do 217 bombers. The bomb achieved spectacular success during the destruction of the Italian battleship “Roma” in September 1943, as well as damaging other Allied ships, such as the USS Savannah and HMS Warspite. Its presence forced changes in Allied anti-aircraft tactics and ship armaments.

Level of detail

The model features high-quality resin casting, providing sharp details of the bomb’s aerodynamic construction, visible tail fins, and realistically reproduced guidance surfaces. The set includes two bomb examples, allowing for either a single display or a scene showing preparations for flight or mounting under the wings of a Luftwaffe bomber model in the same scale. No additional metal parts are included, which simplifies fit and finishing.
