Arma Hobby 70057 P-400 Airacobra 1/72 – plastic aircraft model kit
The Arma Hobby 70057 P-400 Airacobra in 1/72 scale is an exceptional offering for aviation modeling enthusiasts, with a focus on faithful reproduction of the details of historical WWII fighter aircraft. This plastic model kit depicts an exclusive version of the Airacobra, developed based on the original P-39 and adapted to the specific needs of export customers, as well as American units fighting in the Far East and South Pacific. The aircraft was used by the USA, USSR, and Great Britain, and also found its way to Australia.
Historical overview of the P-400 Airacobra: The P-400 was the export version of the P-39 Airacobra—a fighter aircraft designed by Bell, which stood out due to its centrally mounted engine (behind the pilot), tricycle landing gear, and armament centered around a 20 mm cannon (as opposed to the 37 mm in the P-39). It offered excellent performance at low and medium altitudes, ideal for combat at Guadalcanal, New Guinea, and Milne Bay. Manufactured from 1941, it saw combat use mainly in 1942–1945, i.e., during the hottest period of WWII. The included examples depict aircraft of the USAAF flown during key battles on the Southwest Pacific front.
