Historical Description

The Nieuport XI, also known as the "Bébé", debuted on the front in 1915 during World War I. It was a sesquiplane fighter, characterized by excellent maneuverability and low weight. It was an effective Allied response to German air superiority, especially during the famous "Fokker Scourge". The Late version was distinguished by improved aerodynamics and better armament (including a synchronized Lewis machine gun). This type of aircraft was intensively used for air combat, balloon escort and observation, as well as for protecting bombers on the Western Front from 1915–1917.

Model Advantages

  • Excellently reproduced canvas texture and wooden structural elements
  • Multi-part Le Rhône rotary engine enabling detailed interior finishing
  • Authentic decals allowing the selection of historical Allied squadron markings
  • Precisely rendered cockpit with instrument panel and controls
  • Excellent casting quality minimizes the need for sanding

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
